Milonga! The Rhythmic Side of Tango Class Series

Are you interested in learning Milonga? OlyDance hosts Jennifer Jaymes and guest instructor Luis Perez as they continue their “Milonga! The Rhythmic Side of Tango” series this May with a beginner milonga class on Friday, May 31st from 7-8pm, located at the 3rd floor of the Olympia Eagles. This class will take place before OlyDance’s weekly Friday Night Salsa event (7:30PM). Come explore the rhythmic side of tango!

You’ll develop your milonga with this one hour intro class, $25 per person. No prior experience or partner required. This class will introduce fundamental concepts of milonga, discussing musical qualities in the body, exploring basic rhythmic patterns and demonstrating how the music of milonga differs from tango and vals. Milonga is a rhythmic dance and an introduction to its basic technique is valuable if you enjoy any upbeat, playful dance style. These skills will be transferable!

If you’ve been wanting to dig into milonga, now is the time and your work won’t be in vain! We’ll continue our study of milonga in August, when Lya Elcagu and Chino Necchi pick up our next installment of this class series on Friday, August 30th. Olivia and Fernando will pick it up in November. Let’s set our milonga on fire in Olympia!

Drop-in’s are welcome, pre-registration will be through OlyDance at www.olydance.com
