World Embrace Tango invites you to dance Argentine tango in the gorgeous Olympia Ballroom at Milonga Yo Soy El Tango on the first Sunday afternoon of every month in 2024. Join us for a charming afternoon of tango, light refreshments and fantastic tango music-- our DJ lineup for 2024 is turning out to be just astounding!
September’s DJ is Seattle’s up and coming Barry Hashimoto. Specially requested by Lya herself, Barry is coming down to party with us and it’s going to be a banger. On top of Barry’s fresh selection of traditional tango music, there will be showcases by Lya, Chino and Jennifer- we’re bringing the feeling of Buenos Aires to you! Don’t miss this afternoon of fun, friendship, and tango magic.
There will be some non-alcoholic and light refreshments provided by World Embrace Tango; snack bar and non-alcoholic drink potluck is encouraged- go ahead and bring something light and easily shared if you feel inspired.
Please note, this event will be a part of Lya and Chino’s two week workshop series in Olympia and an all access pass will be available. Time: Pre-milonga class (taught by rotating guest instructors throughout the season) from 3:30-4PM, social dancing from 4-6:30PM. Pre-milonga class will be taught by Jennifer and Chino at 3:30 in the ballroom.

Parking: Parking in downtown is ample, but there is no parking lot directly in front of the ballroom. Street parking is best and is free on Sundays in Olympia.
Attire: This is a Sunday afternoon milonga; Sunday best is encouraged but not required. We are privileged to dance tango in this beautiful ballroom- wear something that makes you feel good and something you can move in. The ballroom has a beautiful wood floor; dance shoes (tango/ballroom/dance sneakers) /or suede sole shoes or necessary.
Planning your afternoon: We welcome out of town guests! The area directly around the Olympia Ballroom is a fantastic place to spend your day. There are lovely lunch and dinner options within walking distance, including Uptown Grill, Asahi Sushi, and El Sitio Restaurant (which happens to be located within the same building, directly downstairs).
