The Tango Orchestras: Finding Technique, Quality & Artistry Inside the Music

Class Description: You’ll discover how the music can lead you straight to the most necessary techniques needed to create a dynamic dance all your own. Learn the quintessential sounds that distinguish each orchestra from another. Put the most important tools for each quality into your body with focused exercises. Discover how to interpret the music as an artist, with strategic insight into the orchestra, their musical structure and their individual styles.

This series will give you tools to speak music as common language in a social setting and freedom to express the dancer within!

Details:

1-2:30PM Workshop- Each month we’ll study a different orchestra, using it as a tool to explore the three major musical qualities in the body (and their techniques!), understand social floor navigation, study style-specific combinations and develop skills for listening for and interpreting different music styles in a social setting.

2:30-4PM Guided Practica - Explore class content with open floor time to orchestra specific music. Get to know the orchestra’s major works and put the day’s lesson into direct practice with friends. Jennifer will be available for questions!
